  1. To all of Mike's students: Happy to connect with all of you here! I'm a friend of your teacher, and a teacher too.
In Japanese, I love KY nihongo, especially the original: 空気読めない (kuuki yomenai), plus others like CB (chou bimyou - 超微妙). It's a very creative and colorful use of language. There's so much of it too! And I love expressions such as とりあえず (toriaezu), which you need a phrase in English to express - "for right now" or "for the time being." English doesn't have things like this, but Japanese does. It's a very economical use of language that English is lacking in. So please share with me and Mike - how about your favorite English words or phrases?

    1. Hi Lee,
Thank you for your comment. I'd never heard of KY Nihongo before. Why KY? My favourite Japanese word isノミュニケーション (nomyunikeishon) because it is a brilliantly creative and economical word. As you know, it describes the time we gather with friends over a drink and chat. Nomu = drink in Japanese and keishon = cation, from communication. I love this word!

      Hi Lee,
my favorite Japanese words is あけおめことよろ(akeomekotoyoro).
It mean "Happy new year". The reason I like is that this word is abbreviated.
      Originally, あけましておめでとうございますことしもよろしくおねがいします(akemashiteomedetougozaimasukotoshimoyoroshikuonegaishimasu).
      It's too long!
