Presentation 1 Spring 2014 Week 8: Final Presentations

Hello everyone,
Well, we've come to the end of the course. Today you will do your final presentations. Thank you for being such a great class. i really enjoyed teaching you. I think your confidence and your presentation skills have improved a lot.

Your final assignment is to write a report about your learning experience in this class. Your report should be at least 300 words. Please include the following points:


  • The things you liked about the course
  • The things that you didn't like about the course
  • How much, or how little you think your English has improved
  • How much or how little your confidence has improved
  • How useful you think the course was. Do you think you will have to do presentations in English in the future?
  • What you plan to do in order to retain the skills you have learned in the course.
Please submit your report by e-mail. The deadline for your report is the 25th of June.

Presentation 1 Spring 2014 Week 7: Final Presentation Preparation

Hello everyone,

Did you know that Japanese invented the first android? Well they did. You can see a picture of the first android on the left.
You will invent something for your final presentation. Last week I gave you your final presentation worksheet. If you were absent, please click here: Final Presentation Worksheet. Today in class we are going to start writing the script. If you finish that, you can start working on your slides. You will give your final presentation next week, the 11th of June.

Presentation I Spring 2014 Week 5: The Visual Message

Hello everyone,

Well, we have finished learning about the physical message. Now it's time to learn about the visual message. Today we will start to learn how to make good slides.

Presentation 1 Spring 2014 Week 3: More gestures and the Layout Presentation

Hello everyone,
Today we are going to do our first presentation.
After that we are going to practice using gestures some more. Look at the picture on the left. What does the gesture mean? Do you ever make this gesture?

Our next presentation is a layout presentation. A layout speech describes where things are, their size and their shape. Your next presentation will be about your room. Draw a map of your room on A3-size paper. Your presentation should be 1 minute. You will be tested on your posture, eye contact, voice volume, gestures and the content of your presentation. Don't forget to practice with a partner, or in front of a mirror.

Presentation I 2014 Week 2: The informative presentation



Today we are going to learn about gestures and we are going to start to prepare for our first presentation.

Your first presentation will be an informative presentation.
Your presentation must be 1 minute.

Only your posture, eye content, voice and the content of your presentation will be tested, so this presentation won't be too difficult. You should practice with a partner.

You will give your presentation next week, so don't be absent and don't be late!

Hello everyone, welcome to Presentation 1.
Today I am going to introduce you to the course. Let's look at the course outline.
Look at the picture on the left. This is the text book we will use. I hope you have bought it. If not, please buy it as soon as possible. We will be using it starting next class. This semester we will learn the basics of how to give 5 types of presentations: an informative presentation, a layout presentation, a demonstration presentation, a comparison demonstration and a persuasive presentation.

First, lets look at a bad presentation. Watch the presentation and take notes. What mistakes are the presenters making? Now let's watch another bad presentation.

Presentation 1 Autumn 2013 Week 8 Final Presentation Part 2

Hello everyone,
Today is the last class! Today we will edit our presentation scripts, make our slides and start to rehearse our final presentations. You will do your final presentations during the exam week from 16 December - 20 December. The day and time of your final presentations will be the same day and time of your class, so the Tuesday 5th period class will do their presentations on Tuesday 17 December during 5th period, and the Wednesday 3rd period class will do their presentations on Wednesday 18 December during 3rd period.
OK, let's get started preparing for the final presentations.
